ALSF congratulates Colin Barnett's COAG courage

The Australian Liberal Students' Federation has today congratulated Premier Colin Barnett for his political courage and determination at the Council of Australia Governments (COAG) meeting.

"By standing up for federalism and rejecting Kevin Rudd's disastrous healthcare plan, Colin Barnett has displayed true leadership. He has refused to be bullied. He has stood by principle," said ALSF President Alex Butterworth.

"Statesmen are rare in modern Australia politics, but Colin Barnett has clearly defined himself as a statesman rather than just a politician," Mr Butterworth said.

The ALSF is committed to federalism and Australia's Constitution and welcomes Colin Barnett's commitment to the same.
